Our story
White Rabbit by day, Black Rabbit by night. One building, one team, two very different experiences.
We started small — a coffee shop inside a historic train station in Nanaimo's Old City Quarter. White Rabbit became the kind of place people built their mornings around. Four years in, we felt the pull to do more.
The space next door had been an English pub — tired, forgotten, full of potential. We took it over and built Black Rabbit Kitchen. Opened in 2022, it's grown into something we're genuinely proud of — fresh, local sharing plates, everything made from scratch. The mayo. The bread. The sauces. Local ingredients and whole animal butchery wherever we can.
In between sits The General Store — local makers, artisan goods. Above it all, The Attic. What it becomes next, we're not ready to say. But we'll get it right before we open the doors.
Our kitchen team are creative, curious, and deeply proud of what they put on the plate. Our front of house care so much about this place that guests regularly ask if they're the owner. That's not an accident.

Location + Hours
321 Selby Street
Old City Quarter – Nanaimo, BC
Street parking on Selby Street is free for up to two hours. There's also a lot off Prideaux Street — the right side is free for two hours, the left is RCMP parking only.
White Rabbit and Black Rabbit are fully accessible — ramps at both the front and back entrances for wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers.
Please note The Attic is upstairs via 20 steps and is not accessible by lift.
